Life Member-Michael Carey (You can’t keep a good man down!)

For those in the Rupertswood Cricket Family who were not aware, one of our favourite son’s and life member,Michael Carey had a short stint in hospital last week with some health issues but I am pleased to report that he is back home, well on the mend and sure to be back to his feisty best very soon.I also have it on good authority that fortunately,he was still able to enjoy watching his beloved bombers convincingly defeat the magpies on ANZAC DAY which no doubt has assisted in his recovery.Keep punching Mick and best wishes from all at Rupertswood.

Ex Rupertswoodd CC Young Guns Travers and Halliwell showing their wares.

It was good to hear of the recent success stories for two former Rupertswood CC young guns,Harry Travers and Dean Halliwell.

Harry Travers played for the Central Highlands U18
in the State Championship match at the MCG on February 24, a game won by the
Central Highlands.

Dean has also enjoyed success this year, with his Brunswick 4th XI team
winning their Grand Final on the weekend just gone. Brunswick posted a
competitive score of 246, Dean contributing 30 in a second wicket
partnership of 132 (before a run out mix up with his partner who was on 97!)
to set the team up for a good total. Brunswick were able to restrict Plenty
Valley to 190 the following day.

A big thankyou to Geoff Halliwell who passed this message below on;
Both boys are really enjoying their cricket and I am sure that their Junior
days spent at Rupertswood CC has instilled in them the desire to succeed.

Thanks to everyone at Rupo for their coaching and support of the boys.

They are very much appreciative of where it all started from-at Rupertswood.

Rupertswood CC Presentation Events

Our Rupertswood Cricket Club Senior and Junior Presentation Events were held last weekend recognizing and celebrating the efforts of many for season 2012/13.

Well done to all award winners at both senior and junior level together with all coaches, and support people for your invaluable contribution to our great club.

The highlights of our presentation events involved two long time contributors to Rupertswood CC.

It was an emotional, typically humble but thoroughly well deserving Fiona Buckley who was inducted as a life member.

Fiona has the utmost respect and love of all at Rupertswood for her tireless commitment over more than 15 years.Whether as a team manager but more predominantly as a scorer(in our opinion the best in the GDCA),Fiona has always endeared us with her no fuss attitude plus a constant smile regardless of any situation.

It was also a tremendous accolade for our Junior Co-ordinator,Peter Kavanagh to be awarded our Best Club Person of the year.

As Peter celebrated his final year of junior duties as a premiership coach of our U/16 Blue team,it was justifiably a great endorsement of his contribution to our club on all levels.

As a co-ordinator,coach,committee member and player,Peter’s energy and work ethic in endeavouring to improve our club is undeniable and rightly acknowledged as recipient of this highly regarded award.

To Fiona and Peter,we say well done and once again, thankyou.
