VALE: WORDEN, Joseph Gerard (22/4/1922 – 14/11/2012)

On behalf of all Rupertswood Cricket Club committee members, players and supporters, I would like to extend our condolences to our committee member, teammate and One Day Competition Co-Captain Gavin Clifford on the passing of his grandfather Joseph Worden.
Our thoughts are with Gav and his family at this time.
May he rest in peace.

Rupertswood Calcutta Night-5th November

Well the Melbourne Cup spirit was truly evident at last night’s inaugural combined Rupertswood Cricket Club/Rupertswood Football Club Calcutta. Thank you to everyone who attended and good luck to those who have a runner in today’s big race.

Particular thanks to the following people who did a great job in the organization of the evening: Lauren Swallow, Robert Twentyman, Stephen Dale, Gavin Clifford and Wayne Withers. Wayne Withers also did a great job as MC for the night ably assisted by our form guide expert Mark Arthurson and data entry assistants Warren Hall and Jack Williams – well done lads.

Special thanks to Rachel Steele and Lauren Swallow who conducted ticket sales in the foyer and our catering staff, Pauline Gardiner and Kate and Meg Twentyman who kept the delicious food coming out throughout the evening.

Many thanks also to our bar staff who worked feverishly keeping our patrons hydrated. There was a rotation happening but well done to Stephen Dale, Mark Williams, Jack Williams, Trevor Harris, Mick Lamb and Ryan Hodges. My apologies if I have missed any others in this regard.

A great night had by all!

Congratulations to Our Winners

Sunbury Helping Hand/Bendigo Bank Grant Presentation

On behalf of the Rupertswood Cricket Club, I would sincerely like to thank Sunbury Helping Hand and Bendigo Bank for the generous community grant of $2,500 to assist with the relocation and upgrade of our wicket on the Pine Oval. Senior player Julian Kearney and myself attended the Grants Presentation last evening at the Sunbury Bowling Club whereby various community and sporting groups received the benefits of this great initiative. This is the second year running that we have received this type of assistance and it is greatly appreciated.

Vale: BRENNAN, John William (Jack)

On behalf of the committee, members and players of the Rupertswood Cricket Club, I would like to express our condolences to former President and Life Member Neil Brennan on the passing of his father Jack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Brennan family at this time.

New Pitch on ‘The Pines’ Oval

As the great Bill Lawry would say, “it’s all happening!” The concrete was laid on Saturday morning for the new pitch on ‘The Pines’ Oval and thankfully the weather was kind to us.

Many thanks to the expertise and hard work of Wayne Withers (with his team of Gary and Mark) and special thanks to those club members who turned up to assist: Luke Reddan, Warren Hall, Nick Withers plus Stephen Phillips and his son Adam.

Please view our gallery of the progress by clicking the shots below!

I am really looking forward to the finished product and I am certain that our players and our opposition will enjoy the new configuration for a long time to come.

It was pleasing to note also today that works have begun on the main oval pitch surrounds in a bid to have that up and ready to go for the start of the season.

Thanks – Mick Riley
