Andrew Pizaro reappointed as Senior Captain Coach

The Rupertswood Cricket Club announces the reappointment of Andrew Pizaro as Senior Captain – Coach for the 2020/21 season. Andrew enters into his fourth season in the role, providing great leadership and stability during that time. Andrew will continue to play a leading role in the development of all cricketers at Rupertswood, notably the next generation of young cricketers who have experienced significant growth in recent years.

Further information regarding preseason and the 2020/21 season will be made available in the coming weeks. From a senior’s perspective, the club will give some thought to the number of teams that will be entered into the senior competition and will be best determined through training numbers (pending Covid arrangements) and registrations when they become available.

New players are welcome and are encouraged to make contact with Andrew via email if they are interested in playing at Rupertswood in the upcoming season coachpiza@gmail.com

Three debutants help Rupertswood over the line in round 1 clash

Joel Muir, Ricky Polzella and Joe Honner made their 1st Xi debut at the weekend with Rupertswood overcoming a determined Sunbury Kangaroos at home. New ball bowler, Joel Muir comes to Rupertswood from the Kangaroos, Ricky donned the gloves following his success in where he was awarded the Rupertswood rising star winner and after growing 2 feet over the winter break and a solid preseason performance in the nets, Joe Honner took the first over with Joel at the other end. Our new ball bowling partnership age has effectively halved in one season. Will Honner (truck)

In further good news at Rupertswood, the second XI had a day out versus the Kangaroos with our young talent leading the way. Aidan Jones (Binga) tore through the top order with an impressive 4/23 from 8 overs and Ned Crotty picking up 4/16 of his 4.3 overs, picking up three wickets in one over. Wilkes also applied great pressure, going for only 8 runs in 6 overs with the new ball. Life member and club secretary Warren Hall, top scored with 78 supported well by another young and up and coming cricketer in Owen Thompson who batted at 5.

This week all sides take the field! Good luck!
