Crusaders XI named

Rupertswood CC versus Crusaders

At Rupo No.1 – 11/11/2012

Club legends Kevin Barker and Michael Lane make a temporary yet welcome return to the club to face The Crusaders in the annual clash on the 11th of November at Rupertswood No. 1. With a total of seven club champions, three club bowling averages and four club batting averages between them, Kev and Mick bring some very handy experience to an XI that is looking to bounce back after last year’s defeat. Let’s hope Lane’s back holds up after a few summers chasing snapper in the boat. Other inclusions include up and coming guns; Jake Johnson, Nathan Powell, Jayden Swallow and Sam Hogan.

BEEVER SCORES TON

Congratulations to former Rupertswood McIntyre cricketer Nathan Beever who racked up a century for his current club, Footscray-Edgewater. Opening the batting and captaining the 4th XI Nathan scored a fantastic 110 no, guiding his side to a comfortable victory over Frankston Peninsula. Nathan developed his craft playing junior and senior cricket for Rupo and it’s fantastic to see Nathan’s hard work, both at Rupertswood and Footscray rewarded with a magnificent hundred.

Well done Beever, keep the runs coming!!!

Junior season launch, BBQ and Rd 2 team selection.

Due to the wet weather, senior training for tonight (11/10/2012) has been cancelled, however team selection and a BBQ will still be on offer. The clubrooms will also hold the season launch for all of the junior teams. All senior players are encouraged to attend selection from 6:30pm and have a snag whilst the sides are being announced. Gav Clifford also plans to give us some insight into the Rupo website and what it has to offer. See you tonight!!

Lane’s Debut To Wait

Mark Lane receives his McIntyre cap from club president Mick Riley

Round 1 saw washouts all round for McIntyre, C Grade and D Grade, with persistent rain resulting in no teams getting a start. Prior to the McIntyre team heading up to a wet and cold Woodend, club stalwart and McIntyre debutante Mark Lane was presented with his McIntyre cap. Mark will have to wait for the next opportunity to don his cap in battle.
