Lane’s Debut To Wait

Mark Lane receives his McIntyre cap from club president Mick Riley

Round 1 saw washouts all round for McIntyre, C Grade and D Grade, with persistent rain resulting in no teams getting a start. Prior to the McIntyre team heading up to a wet and cold Woodend, club stalwart and McIntyre debutante Mark Lane was presented with his McIntyre cap. Mark will have to wait for the next opportunity to don his cap in battle.

RupoCam: Warren Hall ready for Season Opener!

In a Rupertswood Cricket Club first, we unveil the first “RupoCam” video ever!
In the first of many “RupoCam” videos to come, our champion batsman and Rupertswood Cricket Club Life Member Warren Hall displays his fine pre-season form in the nets.
Warren’s batting skill is evident here as we see his measured approach to tight bowling, but woe to he who wavers in line or length, as Wazza is well prepared to “put it away” if he sees you stray!

Vale: BRENNAN, John William (Jack)

On behalf of the committee, members and players of the Rupertswood Cricket Club, I would like to express our condolences to former President and Life Member Neil Brennan on the passing of his father Jack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Brennan family at this time.

New Pitch on ‘The Pines’ Oval

As the great Bill Lawry would say, “it’s all happening!” The concrete was laid on Saturday morning for the new pitch on ‘The Pines’ Oval and thankfully the weather was kind to us.

Many thanks to the expertise and hard work of Wayne Withers (with his team of Gary and Mark) and special thanks to those club members who turned up to assist: Luke Reddan, Warren Hall, Nick Withers plus Stephen Phillips and his son Adam.

Please view our gallery of the progress by clicking the shots below!

I am really looking forward to the finished product and I am certain that our players and our opposition will enjoy the new configuration for a long time to come.

It was pleasing to note also today that works have begun on the main oval pitch surrounds in a bid to have that up and ready to go for the start of the season.

Thanks – Mick Riley
